May 2025 | San Diego is Officially the Largest Bee City in California!

The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation has outlined changes that city's and college campuses can make in order to receive the esteemed title of a Bee City of Bee Campus. With the leadership of City Council President Joe LaCava, UCSD's Dr. James Nieh, and our fellow partners on the Bee City Committee, the City of San Diego has agree to make those commitments to support biodiversity, bees and other pollinators. Read the full press release here!

Guidelines for establishing a Bee City USA: Committees, habitats, reducing pesticides, and incorporating pollinator practices in city policies.
Host pollinator events, acknowledge Bee City USA, pay fees, and renew annually.
