Western Monarch Count Virtual Volunteer Training: Required for New Participants
Virtual Volunteer Training: Required for New WMC Participants
October 7 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Free
Learn how to participate in the Xerces Society’s annual Western Monarch Count (WMC)!
This virtual training helps new participants prepare for survey efforts at western monarch overwintering sites during the monarch overwintering season, approximately October through February each year. Attendees will gain a foundational understanding of volunteer expectations, time commitment, survey instructions, and data collection.
More information about the Western Monarch Count initiative can be found at: WesternMonarchCount.org. Information on monarch ecology and conservation can be found at: xerces.org/monarchs.
- NOTE: The WMC requires a multi-month commitment from its volunteers. If you are more interested in a day-trip or weekend visit to a public monarch sanctuary, please consult the following resource: https://xerces.org/blog/everything-you-need-to-know-about-visiting-overwintering-monarchs
