BURN IT WHERE YOU BUY IT. Help stop the spread of invasive pests and diseases.

you may view flyer by clicking on logo below

What You Can Do

Don't risk starting a new infestation of an invasive insect or disease.

You have the power to save trees.

Don't take firewood with you on your camping trip, RV adventure, or up to your hunting camp. Don't bring firewood back from your second home to your place in the suburbs. Don't bring it with you on your scout's camping trip. Instead, buy it where you'll burn it.

You can still have a roaring campfire, or a cozy night in front of the fireplace, if you just know how to burn safe.

PROPERTY AND LIFE SAFETY FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT

Property owners who participate in the program will receive an on-site individualized assessment of their property, which will include existing construction elements, vegetation, access and evacuation routes and emergency preparation within and beyond the existing 100-foot defensible space requirement for your property and any neighbors that might be impacted by a wildfire in your vicinity.

We use the same resources available to local fire jurisdictions to increase the potential for saving your life and property in the instance of a fire, however, the information collected will remain confidential and will not be included in any required County, Cal Fire or local fire department inspection.

This is a NO COST service for property owners and offered only in specified areas of San Diego County as determined by the RCD.  Funding for this program is limited and requests for participation will be prioritized on a first-come, first-servedbasis.
